SEAREI

(Seacoast Area Renewal Energy Initiative) 

is a not-for-profit organization designed to promote cooperation

and affordable renewable energy systems for homeowners in the 

Piscataqua region of New Hampshire and southern Maine. 

                            

Mission

SEAREI prepares communities to contribute to a sustainable 21st Century by increasing the community’s accessibility to renewable energy.

SEAREI is 

modeled after the traditional  New England style "barn-raising" of neighbor helping neighbor.  

SEAREI was formed in 2009 by members of the 

Piscataqua Sustainability Initiative (PSI) in partnership with 

Plymouth Area Renewable Energy Initiative.

Why SEAREI? Albert Einstein said it first. "The problems of today cannot be solved with the same level of thinking that ....., which means to say, the answer to fossil fuel problems cannot be solved by government vs. market solutions.  We need to approach 21st century solutions in a completely new way What is a Community Energy Raiser?   . A few hundred years ago, in rural spaces, farmers understood their relationship with their neighbors. They also knew how costly was the construction of their most important structure, their barn.  Putting two and two together, or in systems terms, a win/win,  SEAREI accomplishes its mission by:

•       Bringing down the cost of installing renewable energy systems

•       Providing hands on education for the homeowner so they end up with a strong understanding of how their system works

•       Developing a support network of knowledgeable families

•       Providing local tradespeople an avenue to learn about installing renewable energy systems

•       Building community connections while we all prepare for life in a lower energy world
